I finally managed to finish Crime and Punishment in 22 hour long audio-book format. It filled two weeks of my commute to office.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky is undoubtedly one of the greatest authors from 19th century. This book reflects the same. He's the master of portraying poverty, suffering and despair. The central character Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov is the epitome of self-loathing, hatred, anguish and self-depravity.

One tends to compare the characters to the other great tragedy - Shakespeare's Hamlet.

  2. 'Sonya' only next to Ophelia
  3. Svidrigailov and Luzhin only next to Claudius and Polonius
  4. Razumikhin only next to Horatio
Overall a delightful read (listen). Next up Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.
